Hoia Baciu, west of Cluj-Napoca. A Transylvanian forest with a clearing that will not grow the way the rest of the wood grows. In 1968 Alexandru Sift photographs something over the trees that later pages treat as a disc. Biologist Alexandru Sift and then Emil Barnea become the names attached to the first modern wave. Visitors report nausea, burns of a sort, watches that misbehave, and a silence that is probably only woodland. Television loves a perfect circle in a wood. Forestry loves a clearing with a cause.
The circle has been explained as soil, grazing, old human use, and something that will not be named. None of those closes have a sample tray this folder can hold. UFO talk and ghost talk share the same car park. The forest is real. The photographs are real as photographs. What they show is the fight.
