AVEBURY
Avebury, Wiltshire. Neolithic henge and stone ring with a village inside. Older tenant than any pictogram. Alton Barnes is a 1990 field down the road. Stones first. Not a landing pad.

1. Public Record
Avebury, Wiltshire. A stone circle and henge that was here long before anyone flattened wheat for a postcard. Larger in footprint than Stonehenge. Village inside the ring. Ditch, bank, avenues, stones that have been buried, broken, stood up again. Antiquaries and later ministries argue dates. The earthwork does not care. Alton Barnes is a 1990 field down the road. This page is the older tenant.
Tourism treats Avebury as Stonehenge's quieter cousin. That is a gift-shop sentence. The ring swallowed a village. People still live among the stones. Crop circles use the same county and a later summer. Do not let East Field eat the henge. Do not let the henge pretend it is a landing pad because a pictogram once sat in the next parish.
A village in a ring. Stones that outlasted every theory. Wheat that is a neighbour, not a proof.
Stukeley drew the avenues. Later traffic buried stones under barn walls and dug them out again. That cycle is the historic file: not a landing, a parish using megaliths as handy masonry and then repenting. The ring is large enough to hold shops. That ordinary use is the fact theories skip when they want a temple that still clocks in.
Avenues run out from the circle toward other stones. That is prehistoric traffic, not a taxiway. Keep the distinction when a summer pictogram wants a runway.
Same county, different century. A plank and a rope can own a July morning. They cannot own a Neolithic ditch.
2. Date of Incident
Construction in the Neolithic. Later breaking and re-erection across historic centuries. No single night owns the ring.
3. Location
Avebury, Wiltshire. Approximate 51°26 N 001°51 W.
4. Official Narrative
Scheduled monument. Official narrative is prehistoric earthwork and stone setting. No ministry type as a craft site.
5. Witness Layer
Antiquaries. Ministry and National Trust. Villagers. Later circle watchers who want the henge as a stage.
A living village inside a monument is the human fact. Theories about sky gods can wait in the car park.
1990 is a pictogram. Avebury is a ditch and a ring. Write both or write neither as the same night.
6. Recovery Logistics
The stones and the earthwork. No craft tray. Later circle photographs belong on the Alton Barnes card.
7. Assessment
Start with the ditch and the village. Everything else is later talk hung on a place that was already strange before saucers had a name. Allowed as tourism. Not allowed as a 1947 destination.
This folder files Avebury as the older Wiltshire tenant. Keep Alton Barnes as 12 July 1990. Keep Stonehenge off this title. The stones were here first.
People still park, shop, and sleep inside the ring. That ordinary traffic is the fact theories skip. A living village does more work than a landing-pad lecture.
8. Materials & Remains
Stones, bank, ditch, village. No hardware from the sky.
9. Key Personnel
Avebury villagers : The living ring.
Antiquaries and Trust : The later roof.
10. Aftermath
Coaches keep coming. Wheat seasons keep using the county. The henge keeps the village.
11. Current Archive Status
Status: Stones first. Village inside.
Confidence: High that Avebury is a prehistoric henge with a village in the ring. Low that it is a craft site. High that it is not the Alton Barnes card.
Filing note
A Wiltshire ring that ate a village, stones broken and stood again, a 1990 pictogram down the road that must not be allowed to rent this ditch, a county that can hold both without making them one night.
The stones were here first. Wheat is a neighbour, not a proof.
