1. Public Record

Cussac, Cantal. 29 August 1967, morning. François Delpeuch, thirteen, and Anne-Marie, nine, watching cows. Four small black figures, about 120 cm, near a sphere hanging a metre off the grass. The figures rise into it. A high note. The sphere climbs hard. Sulphur on the air. Grass scorched. Gendarmerie the same day. La Montagne on 1 September: have the Martians landed.

A radio prize for a photograph had been announced a fortnight earlier. Investigators note it. In April 1978 GEPAN sends Claude Poher and a magistrate who has no prior UFO brief. Their line, after the helicopter idea fails them: on 29 August 1967 the observers watched the hurried departure of an inhabited vehicle quite unknown, performances beyond their personal technology. CNES later puts the case in the public stack.

Two children. A sphere. A sulphur patch. A space agency that would not call it a helicopter.

Four petits hommes noirs débarquer d'une soucoupe volante.

La Montagne, 1 September 1967

2. Date of Incident

29 August 1967, morning. Press 1 September. GEPAN field team April 1978.

3. Location

Cussac, Cantal, France. Approximate 44°59 N 002°56 E.

4. Official Narrative

Gendarmerie traces. GEPAN: unknown inhabited vehicle. Official French narrative is unexplained, not a recovery.

5. Witness Layer

François. Anne-Marie. Gendarmes. Poher. The magistrate. Village talk.

We estimate that on 29 August 1967 the observers of Cussac witnessed the hurried departure of an inhabited vehicle entirely unknown.

GEPAN 1978 language

6. Recovery Logistics

Scorched grass. Sulphur noted. No object. No photograph to claim the radio prize.

7. Assessment

A cow-field file. Keep the prize so motive sits in the folder without owning the traces. Keep GEPAN's sentence. Two children can agree and still be wrong. A magistrate with no brief is why the 1978 page has weight. Do not write four Martians as inventory. Do not write the radio prize as a confession.

8. Materials & Remains

Gendarmerie note. La Montagne. GEPAN report. The field.

9. Key Personnel

François Delpeuch : Thirteen.

Anne-Marie Delpeuch : Nine.

Claude Poher : 1978 team.

10. Aftermath

Cussac becomes a GEPAN slide. The children age out of the story. The agency does not take the sentence back.

11. Current Archive Status

Status: 29 Aug 1967. Two children. Sphere. GEPAN unknown vehicle. No photo.

Confidence: High that the siblings reported four small figures and a rising sphere the same morning the gendarmerie smelled sulphur. High that GEPAN rejected a helicopter. Low that the vehicle is typed. Low that the prize explains the burn.

Filing note

A morning with cows, a sister aged nine, four dark figures the height of a child, a sphere a metre off the grass, sulphur, a prize that had already been read on the radio, a magistrate walking the same ground eleven years later.

Hurried departure. That is the agency verb. Not a show. A leaving.
