1. Public Record
Montauk. Camp Hero, Long Island, a coastal defence site with a SAGE radar and a cold-war roof. The later story is Preston Nichols and Al Bielek: chairs, time, boys, a Philadelphia Experiment sequel that moved from a destroyer to a park. The base is real. The SAGE dish is real. The chair is a lecture circuit. Camp Hero becomes a state park. The radar building is the object people photograph when they want the story without saying Nichols.
This folder already holds the Philadelphia Experiment as a neighbouring myth. Montauk is what happened when that myth needed a post-war address. FOIA on Hero gives radar and coastal guns. It does not give a chair that throws a boy to 1983.
A park that used to be a base. A dish on a roof. A book that ate both.
2. Date of Incident
Camp Hero wartime into SAGE years. Nichols books from the early 1990s. Park after closure.
3. Location
Montauk, Long Island. Approximate 41°04 N 071°52 W.
4. Official Narrative
Former military site, now park. Official narrative is coastal defence and radar. It does not concede the experiments in the books.
5. Witness Layer
Nichols, Bielek, and the circuit. Park staff. FOIA readers. No official experimenter named on a docket this folder trusts.
6. Recovery Logistics
Park. Radar ruin. Books. No chair in a catalogue.
7. Assessment
Treat Montauk like Aztec with better architecture. A real roof, a real dish, a story that needed both. Boys and time are the payload of the books. They are not in the FOIA stack. Philadelphia is the prequel the circuit required. It does not become true because Hero has a bunker.
This folder files Montauk as a coastal base that folklore occupied after the Army left. Keep the dish. Leave the chair in the lecture. If a veteran of Hero wants to talk radar, that is a different paragraph to Nichols.
8. Materials & Remains
Camp Hero fabric. SAGE radar building. Nichols / Bielek books. No experimental hardware on a public list.
9. Key Personnel
Preston Nichols / Al Bielek : The circuit.
Camp Hero as a post : The real roof.
10. Aftermath
The park takes hikers. The books take conventions. The dish takes photographs.
11. Current Archive Status
Status: Camp Hero. Real dish. Chair in paperbacks.
Confidence: High that Camp Hero was a coastal / SAGE site. Low that the chair experiments are documented. Low that Philadelphia moves to Montauk except in the circuit.
Filing note
A Long Island gun battery that became a radar roof, a park after the Army left, two men with a sequel to a destroyer myth, a chair that never appears on a property list.
The dish is why people still park there. The chair is why they lower their voice.
