1. Public Record

11 December 1996. A 216 kilometre stretch of the Klondike Highway. Fox Lake, Carmacks, Pelly Crossing, some talk as far as Mayo. From about 19:00 a large structured light moves through Yukon dark. Martin Jasek of UFOBC later compiles named witnesses only: six at Fox, nine at Carmacks, seven at Pelly, a minimum of twenty-two, fourteen of them with drawings. Yukon has about thirty thousand people. Nobody that Jasek can find rings the police.

FOX2 and FOX3 drive north in separate vehicles. They stop 570 metres apart beside frozen Fox Lake. FOX2 gets out. The object drifts until he is under its edge. Lights sit on a smooth grey surface. They are square, not round, described by one trapper as about nine feet high and twenty long. FOX4 and FOX5, coming up from the south, first think a truck, then realise the row is out over the water. A car clock at 20:23. A watch checked at the end of a sighting. PEL groups later. Don Trudeau is on a trapline away from the road and high enough to be nearer eye level with it.

Jasek triangulates from the 570-metre baseline and the hand-span angles. Figures come out between 0.88 and 2.0 kilometres. Witness guesses are smaller: a football stadium, half a kilometre against the lake width. Either way the thing is not a Cessna. No wreckage. No interceptor on the paper Jasek holds.

Three settlements. A table of arrows. A highway that did not need a city.

2. Date of Incident

11 December 1996, roughly 19:00 to 21:00. Jasek report posted 1999, updated 2000.

3. Location

Klondike Highway from Fox Lake through Carmacks to Pelly Crossing, Yukon. Approximate 61°20 N 135°30 W.

4. Official Narrative

No Canadian Forces recovery and no RCMP file that this archive holds. Official narrative is civilian reports without a type.

5. Witness Layer

FOX1 through FOX6. CRM cluster. PEL cluster including Don Trudeau on the trapline. Jasek as compiler, engineer, not a mystic.

Looked at the car clock during the sighting.

FOX5

No one that we know of called the police.

Jasek, on the whole evening

6. Recovery Logistics

Drawings and a direction table. No airframe on the lake ice. No radar pull that entered this folder.

7. Assessment

A multi-cluster file. Keep the 570-metre gap between FOX2 and FOX3. Keep the car clock. Keep the square lights. Triangulation is geometry, not gospel, and should sit beside the smaller witness guesses. Do not write a mile-wide craft as measured steel. Do not write a secret scramble that is not on paper. The silence of the police line is part of the night, not proof of a cover.

8. Materials & Remains

Jasek tables and drawings. Highway. Frozen lake. No film this archive treats as primary.

9. Key Personnel

FOX2 / FOX3 : The close pair.

Don Trudeau : Trapline, off the road.

Martin Jasek : The table.

10. Aftermath

The Yukon night becomes a size-argument slide. The settlements are still small. The arrows still read better than most single-witness pages.

11. Current Archive Status

Status: 11 Dec 1996. Three clusters. Direction table. No wreckage.

Confidence: High that separate named groups on that highway reported a large moving structured light in the same hour. Low that length is known to a metre. Low that a military chase is documented.

Filing note

A December highway, two trucks 570 metres apart, a man who stepped out and found himself under an edge, square lights on a grey face, a trapper off the road, a compiler who only had to line the arrows up, nobody ringing the police.

Looked at the car clock. The least romantic instrument in the file. That is why it helps.
