VILLAS BOAS

1. Public Record

16 October 1957, about 01:00. Antônio Vilas-Boas, twenty-three, was ploughing at night on the family farm near São Francisco de Sales, Minas Gerais, to beat the heat. A red star grew into an egg-shaped craft with a rotating cupola. The tractor lights and engine died. He ran. Figures in grey coveralls and helmets took him up a flexible ladder.

Inside: a small room, a sponge bath, blood drawn, a woman who did not speak his language. He later told Olavo Fontes he felt used, “a good stallion.” She pointed at her belly and then at the sky. He was put back in the field. The tractor started. Four years before the Hills, and without their doctor.

Lights had already been seen from the farmhouse on 5 October, with his brother João at the shutter.

I felt as though I had been little more than a good stallion.

2. Date of Incident

Night of 15-16 October 1957 for the taking. Precursor lights 5 and 14 October. First detailed medical interview 1958. He later qualified as a lawyer and did not recant.

3. Location

Family farm near São Francisco de Sales, Minas Gerais, near the São Paulo line. Approximate 20°14 S 049°55 W. Night field, tractor lamps.

4. Official Narrative

No Brazilian air-force finding that treats it as a recovery. Fontes took the medical statement. The case entered the literature through that paper and through the British Flying Saucer Review. Official posture is absence. The farmer’s statement is the file.

5. Witness Layer

Vilas-Boas alone in the field. João for the earlier yard light. The interior narrative is one man’s, given to a doctor, not to a hypnotist two years on. That difference from the Hills is the reason this file sits earlier on the shelf even when the contents are harder to repeat in a quiet room.

He described the woman pointing at her belly and then up. He did not claim to understand the destination. He claimed anger.

6. Recovery Logistics

No craft. Tractor that died and then lived. No blood vial in a lab that the archive can name. The remains are the Fontes notes.

7. Assessment

The first widely circulated abduction that is not an American road at midnight. Read it as a 1957 farm statement, not as a template built after 1966. Sceptics stop at invention. The honest middle is a named farmer who kept the story after he had a profession that did not need it. Do not sand the sexual content out and do not turn it into the whole page.

Filing note

A farmer on a night shift to beat the heat, a tractor that died, a ladder, a statement to a doctor rather than a hypnotist. He qualified in law afterward and still told it.

He opened with his name, his age, and his job. Not a speech about the sky. A man introducing himself the way you do at a fence. That small formality makes the pointing at the belly colder.
