1. Public Record
Edwards Air Force Base, Mojave. A lakebed that exists to break aircraft on purpose. Test pilots, chasing lights over Rogers Dry Lake, sit in a literature that is half flight log and half saucer book. Some nights are other programs. Some nights are the desert doing what deserts do with stars and landing lights. A few stay in the stack because the man who saw them was current in a cockpit that does not forgive sloppy seeing.
Edwards is not Groom. It is public enough to have a museum and closed enough to hide a sorties list. Blue Book and later compilers pick Edwards because a test pilot is a better witness than a motorist. That is fair. It is also how a base becomes a brand.
A dry lake. Men whose job is to see small things far away. Nights that may be other hangars.
2. Date of Incident
Multiple nights across the jet age. No single date owns the name. Cluster talk from the 1950s onward.
3. Location
Edwards AFB / Rogers Dry Lake, California. Approximate 34°54 N 117°53 W.
4. Official Narrative
Test centre. Official narrative is aviation. Individual nights may be unidentified in old cards and still not be a visitor from outside the ranges.
5. Witness Layer
Test pilots and range staff. Blue Book cards. Later popular compilers.
6. Recovery Logistics
Case cards and memoirs. No public disc on the lakebed.
7. Assessment
A range that hides its own aircraft will generate unidentifieds for everyone outside the hangar. File those as possible neighbours before you file them as visitors. A current test pilot still gets a hearing. He does not automatically get a new physics.
This folder files Edwards as a working lakebed with a saucer reputation it partly earned by being secret-in-public. Keep Groom next door. Keep individual nights on their own cards when we have them. This page is the base, not one intercept.
8. Materials & Remains
Range. Memoirs. Blue Book mentions. No tray.
9. Key Personnel
Edwards test community : The eyes.
10. Aftermath
The museum sells jackets. The lakebed still cracks aircraft. The reputation stays in the compilers.
11. Current Archive Status
Status: Lakebed. Test pilots. Nights mixed.
Confidence: High that Edwards generated unidentified reports from current aircrew. Low that they share one type. Low that the lakebed hid a non-program object as policy.
Filing note
A Mojave lake that exists to break jets, pilots trained to see, other hangars doing quiet work, Blue Book cards that liked the letterhead, a brand that grew because the witness was already wearing wings.
Edwards is not Groom. It is the public secret. That is a different kind of blank.
