1. Public Record

Albuquerque, 1980. Paul Bennewitz, Thunder Scientific, humidity instruments, contracts that already put him next to Kirtland. He and his wife Cindy watch lights on the Manzano Weapons Storage side and in Coyote Canyon. He films. He later claims more than 2,600 feet of film. He builds aerials for low-frequency signal he believes is coming off the objects and writes a program that, he says, translates it. On 24 October 1980 he takes the work to Kirtland. AFOSI Special Agent Richard C. Doty and Jerry Miller from the Test and Evaluation Center come to the house on 26 October. Senators Harrison Schmitt and Pete Domenici later ask AFOSI what is being done and are told there is no investigation. Three Manzano guards and a Sandia guard report lights that August. Bennewitz already has Myrna Hansen, a Cimarron woman who on 6 May 1980 told state police a story of lights and cattle. He and Leo Sprinkle sit with her. The Dulce base, Archuleta Mesa, an underground colonisation scheme, cattle and a war plan called Project Beta, 1988, how to attack the mesa, grow in his paper while the Air Force, in Doty's later telling, feeds him documents and a story to keep him pointed at aliens and off whatever was actually on the range.

Bennewitz unravels in public. Hospital time. Greg Bishop's Project Beta and Mark Pilkington's Mirage Men, and the film of that book, are how the counter-file reached a wider room. Doty has said he hoaxed paper and was told to enter the house. Bill Moore is named beside him in a 1992 note that sits in a CIA library copy of a Monroe Institute piece. The lights over Manzano are not settled by Doty's later monologue. The man who filmed them was destroyed in slow motion by a story he was helped to write.

2. Date of Incident

Lights and film 1980. AFOSI visit 26 October 1980. Hansen 6 May 1980. Project Beta paper 1988. Collapse through the mid-1980s.

3. Location

Four Hills / Kirtland and Manzano, Albuquerque, and Archuleta Mesa in the later story. Approximate 35°03 N 106°32 W.

4. Official Narrative

AFOSI told senators there was no investigation. Official narrative after the books is a disinformation case. No public technical close on the films.

5. Witness Layer

Paul and Cindy. Hansen. Sprinkle. Doty. Miller. Schmitt and Domenici as the men who asked and were waved off. Moore in the later admission layer.

I was tasked with hoaxing documents and feeding false information to UFO researchers, including Bennewitz.

Richard C. Doty, as later given

6. Recovery Logistics

Film and audio in private hands. AFOSI paper released in pieces. No public lab close on the signals.

7. Assessment

A contractor-and-agent file. Keep the humidity company so he is not only a crank with a hill. Keep the senators' questions and the official no. Keep Doty's later yes. The honest page holds lights that several guards also logged and a man who was then buried in Dulce paperwork he was encouraged to believe. Do not write every New Mexico light as a saucer. Do not write Bennewitz as only ill. Project Beta is a war plan against a story. That is the cruelty in the file.

8. Materials & Remains

Project Beta text. AFOSI FOIA. Bishop. Mirage Men. Film that has not had a public chain of custody clean enough to end argument.

9. Key Personnel

Paul Bennewitz : The house and the film.

Richard C. Doty : AFOSI. The later admission.

Myrna Hansen : 6 May 1980.

Bill Moore : Named in the feed.

10. Aftermath

Dulce became a fixture of late-century UFO paper. Bennewitz died in 2003. Doty remained a contested narrator. The mesa is still a mesa.

11. Current Archive Status

Status: Kirtland lights 1980. AFOSI contact. Project Beta. Disinformation later named.

Confidence: High that Bennewitz filmed lights and contacted Kirtland. High that Doty visited and later described a feed. Moderate that some range activity was real. Low that Archuleta held the colony he described. Low that every document he handled was clean.

Filing note

A humidity contractor with a view of a weapons hill, 2,600 feet of film, home-built aerials, two senators waved off, an agent at the kitchen table, a woman from Cimarron, a paper on how to attack a mesa that was mostly a story, a hospital.

They told the senators there was no investigation. The same office was already in the house. Richard Doty sat at that table and later narrated the feed. Treat every sentence of his as a tool, never as a witness. He should not be trusted.
